Many people have heard of Cordyceps sinensis and Cordyceps sinensis, but some people think that Cordyceps sinensis is the same flower as Cordyceps sinensis and confuse them. In fact, cordyceps flowers are not related to cordyceps sinensis. So what is the difference between cordyceps sinensis and cordyceps flowers?
What is the difference between cordyceps sinensis and cordyceps flowers?
1. Different traits
Firstly, distinguish between the two based on their traits, as the characteristics on the traits are relatively intuitive. So cordyceps flowers are a type of fungus cultivated in natural media, and their finished products differ from spore products and fruiting bodies. However, they do not have a “worm body” and are golden in color, resembling plant stamens. And Cordyceps sinensis, a traditional Chinese medicinal herb, is a worm body in winter and a plant in summer, which is quite miraculous. In fact, it is also a high protein fungus mainly sold as worm bodies.
2. Different components
Secondly, it is through comparing the ingredients, which means the types of nutrients contained in both of them. So cordyceps flowers are rich in protein, amino acids, cordycepin, mannitol SOD、 Polysaccharides and other components. Cordyceps contains 10.85% moisture, 8.50% fat, 25.3% crude protein, 18.55% crude fiber, 28.90% carbohydrates, and 4.80% ash. Fats contain 13.00% saturated fatty acids, 82.2% unsaturated fatty acids, approximately 7% cordycepin, and cordycepin.
3. Different effects
Once again, the difference in efficacy between the two is also an important distinguishing point. So although Cordyceps sinensis is used clinically, it is not classified as a traditional Chinese medicine. It is mainly used to assist in the treatment of dizziness, tinnitus, forgetfulness, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, long-term cough, deficiency and asthma. And Cordyceps sinensis Ganping is good for protecting the lungs, nourishing the kidneys, replenishing essence, stopping bleeding and resolving phlegm, relieving cough, and treating diaphragm.
4. Different places of origin
Then a better distinction can be made based on the different origins of the two. Although cordyceps flowers are a product of scientific research, their production areas are greatly limited by climate. Currently, cordyceps flowers are mainly planted in Xinhui and Shenyang in China. Cordyceps sinensis and other natural fungi are distributed in many regions of China, but mainly concentrated in Qinghai, Xizang, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Gansu and other plateau areas with an altitude of 3500-5000 meters.
5. Different prices
The price difference between the last two is actually quite significant, and this is another important distinguishing point. So cordyceps flower is a scientific research product, and its price is not very expensive. It is edible in ordinary households. The price of cordyceps sinensis is much higher than that of cordyceps flowers, and the origin and quality of the medicine determine its price increase.
